to look younger

The foods that you put into your body will reflect both the size of your waistline and the amount of wrinkles on your skin. If you want to feed your skin delicious beauty, Burke suggests that you take a bite of these five succulent, skin-saving foods.

Fruit: Because fruit is mostly water, eating at least two to three servings daily keeps you hydrated, plus fruit contains natural sweetener (fructose) for energy and antioxidant vitamins and minerals that help combat free-radical damage. Some of the best are kiwi, fresh mango and citrus fruits.

Fish: Fatty fish contain antioxidant omega-3 fatty acids and are good sources of protein. Eat at least twice weekly.

Nuts: Walnuts, almonds, pistachios and hazelnuts are rich in vitamin E, an antioxidant that promotes immunity and good health.

Vegetables: Focus on deeply colored orange (sweet potatoes, squash, carrots) and deep green (broccoli, spinach, collards, kale) ones. They're full of vitamin A and C, antioxidant nutrients.

Whole Grains: These have fiber, which promote satiety.

fruits for face

1. Remove skin debris with pumpkin filling and nutmeg. Get a can of pumpkin and keep it in the refrigerator. Take a scoop and mix it with a sugar honey exfoliant.

2. Apply cranberry juice as a cleanser. It's slightly acidic and has antibacterial properties, so it tones while cleansing at the same time.

3. Crush a peeled tomato, and spread it over your face. Tomatoes contain acids that balance the skin's pH levels and tighten pores.

4. Mash half a banana and rub it into clean, dry skin. Leave it on for five minutes. Then rinse well. This mask will leave your skin baby soft, plus the potassium in the bananas will help erase any circles under your eyes.

5. Mash half a ripe peach, and rub it into your face in a circular motion to bring out the glow.

Remedies for in-grown hairs

Home remedy #1: Preventing ingrown hairs

You can prevent ingrown hairs in the first place by exfoliating your skin before shaving and every time you shower. You can use a loofah or sponge, but if you have delicate skin the abrasion can hurt your skin. Body scrubs are available at online stores, drug stores and department stores in every price range. The only problem is that the less expensive scrubs tend to use abrasive ingredients. Whipping up an all-natural and mild scrub is a home remedy to prevent ingrown hairs and it only takes only a few minutes. Hairchick’s favourite recipe includes baking soda. Just mix a teaspoon of baking soda with a tablespoon of liquid soap. Use your hands to spread this mixture over your body and then rinse off. You can also make a body scrub by mixing sugar with equal parts liquid soap.

Home remedy #2: Preventing ingrown hairs after shaving

After shaving, try using witch hazel (available at any health food store and some drug stores for a few dollars) to the skin. Applying an antiseptic can also help offset ingrown hairs by cleaning the area. Hairchick has a friend who crushes two aspirin in water and applies to the skin just after shaving. She swears this helps prevent ingrown hairs for her.

Home remedy #3: Getting rid of itchiness caused by ingrown hairs

If it’s too late and you already have ingrown hairs, you can reduce any itchiness you have by pureeing half a cucumber and adding 1/3 cup of milk. Mix the mixture and store (covered) in the fridge for a few minutes until cold. Soak gauze or a cloth in the mixture and apply for a few minutes to the irritated areas, then rinse off. This will not make the ingrown hairs go away, but it will take away the itchiness and irritation for a few minutes.

Home remedy #4: Facial ingrown hairs

If the ingrown hair is on your face, you can wait a day or two and then look at the hair in direct sunlight with the help of a magnifying mirror. If you notice a bit of hair sticking out, it is possible to remove the hair by plucking it out. You will need to clean the area scrupulously before and after tweezing. Tweezing will hurt far more than it usually does, so don’t bother if you have more than one ingrown hair on your face. Don’t even think of trying to yank ingrown hairs on other parts of your body - you’ll have a very hard time trying to see the hair properly. Hairchick suggests that you leave the hair alone if at all possible, and only resort to pulling it in case of a dire emergency - like an important event. Pulling at an ingrown hair can cause an infection and may lead to scarring, so it is not a technique to be taken lightly.

Power Food .. must take

1. Spinach:
This dark, leafy green vegetable is packed with vitamin C, beta carotene, vitamin A, fiber and some calcium and iron. These nutrients and potent antioxidants fight cancer and also boost immunity. Spinach is also a low-calorie food. There are not too many foods with this kind of "bang for your buck."

2. Berries:
These colorful fruits contain chemicals that act as antioxidants, believed by scientists to protect the body from the stresses of age and possibly reduce the risk of cancer. Seek out them out in the frozen foods section -- blueberries, strawberries, cranberries and blackberries. Top cereal, ice cream or yogurt with berries, or just eat them plain with a dollop of whipped cream. It will make you feel refreshed.

3. Salmon:
Fatty fish may not sound healthy, but study after study confirms that consumption of salmon lowers the risk of death from heart disease. It is indeed the fat -- in particular, the omega-3 fatty acids -- that help the heart by preventing sudden and fatal disturbances in heart rhythm.
You are less likely to die from a heart attack if you eat at least one serving of salmon or other fatty fish each week, according to the American Heart Association. Fresh fish might taste better, but canned salmon is also high in omega-

3 fatty acids.
It is also available in convenient pouches.

4. Nuts:
Almonds, peanuts, walnuts and hazelnuts are bite-size powerhouses of health-promoting substances that help prevent heart disease and cancer. High in monounsaturated fat, vitamin E, magnesium and fiber, a small, 1- to 2-ounce serving is all that is needed to provide health benefits. And because they have a high fat content, a small amount is surprisingly filling.

5. Beans:
Yes, they are starchy, but they are also a great source of protein, fiber, folic acid, zinc, magnesium and potassium. Drained and rinsed, canned beans are a great, inexpensive and convenient protein source. Mix them in with salads or soups.

6. Sweet Potatoes:
Too bad many of us eat them only on Thanksgiving. Sweet potatoes are among the most nutritious of vegetables since they are packed with disease-fighting beta carotene, fiber and other antioxidants. They are starchy, however, so use them in place of white potatoes, rice or other starches.

7. Tomatoes:
You say "tomato," I say "lycopene." This is the one vegetable where fresh is not as advantageous since the powerful antioxidants are more concentrated in cooked varieties. Keep canned tomatoes on hand to throw in with other vegetables or pair up with fish, chicken, pork or beef. 8. Low-Fat Milk or Yogurt: I rarely meet someone who gets the recommended amount of calcium in their diet. These dairy products are not that high in calories for the amount of calcium, protein and vitamins A and D that they contain. If you aren't a milk drinker, eat yogurt, low-fat cheese or at least get calcium supplements.

5 diet mistakes to watch out

1. Jilt the juice:
Although juice has more nutrition than soda, it's got the identical amount of calories per glass. Unless you're trying to gain weight, eat your fruit instead of drinking it. Eliminate one glass of juice per day and save around 150 calories.

2. Omit the oil:
Although olive oil is a better choice than mayonnaise or creamy salad dressings, all are very similar in terms of calories. Instead of adding ¼ cup (4 tablespoons) of olive oil to your tossed salad, mix 2 tablespoons of olive oil with ¼ cup of balsamic vinegar and whisk in fresh or dried herbs like rosemary, basil and thyme and a dash each of salt and pepper. Eliminate 2 tablespoons of added olive oil and save around 240 calories.

3. Minus the mayo:
Log on to any of the major fast-food franchises that have Web sites (Burger King, McDonald's, Wendy's, etc.) and see what happens when you add and subtract mayonnaise. For example, on BK's site, a grilled chicken sandwich automatically comes slathered with mayo. Just "click" to leave it off and presto, watch the calories reduce. For every tablespoon of mayonnaise you eliminate from your meals, save 105 calories.

4. Boost the fiber:
Make an effort to eat raw, crunchy vegetables for a smart and filling snack, and to increase your intake of vegetables. You really can't eat too much of the crunchy stuff! Crunchy veggies are so full of fiber and water that a full cup of green beans, for example, has fewer than 40 calories.
Snack on raw carrots, celery, radishes, mushrooms, spinach and broccoli. If you like, lightly steam by cooking for a few minutes, covered, in the microwave and then sprinkle with just a bit of butter granules (no calories) or serve with tomato salsa. Eat as much as you like of raw or slightly steamed crunchy veggies!

5. Forget "Fried":
The difference between a fried chicken breast and a broiled one can trip you up if you're trying to lose weight. One "original" recipe KFC chicken breast has 370 calories. A Chick-fil-A chargrilled chicken sandwich has only 260 calories, and Boston Market does it right -- their quarter-rotisserie chicken (no skin) has only 240 calories. Forget the fried chicken and save 130 calories by opting for skinless breast.

Hot showers ..

Hot showers calms out nerves down after a tiring day at work,
but it's not that healthy for our skin.

Hot showers can actually damage our skin by drying it out.

So what we can do is, have a hot shower but remember to slowly turn the water
heat from hot to cool.

With this the chillness will help to close the open pores due to hot water earlier.

Do apply lotions or vitamin oils after shower for maintaing a smooth and soft skin.

5 Ways to Clean Up Your Complexion

1. Use a mint laxative to help clean and condition skin. Add a cup of the laxative (available at health food stores) to a small bowl of boiling water. Lean your head over the steam, placing a towel over your head to keep the steam trapped so that it will go right into your skin. Remain for 10 minutes. Then wipe off. Always start with clean skin.

2. Tighten pores by cutting half a cucumber and soaking in a tablespoon of witch hazel. Slide over skin after cleansing. Rinse.

3. Remove an overripe tomato's skin. Crush it slightly. Using a cotton ball, apply tomato pulp to a clean face. Leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Tomatoes contain oil-absorbing acids and natural exfoliants.

4. Mix one teaspoon of lemon juice with one half teaspoon warm water. Apply with a cotton ball to enlarged pores. Let set for five minutes, then rinse.

5. Never apply foundation over large pores. Close them with a toner, or apply oil-free moisturizer before foundation. This will allow the foundation to go over the pores and not clog them.

7. Low-Fat Yogurt: Dairy products can
boost weight-loss efforts, according to a study in Obesity Research.

8. Apples and Pears: Overweight women who ate the equivalent of three small apples or pears a day lost more weight on a low-calorie diet than women who didn't, according to State University of Rio de Janeiro researchers.

So, next time you need to
satisfy a sugar craving, reach for this high-fiber snack. You'll feel full longer and eat less.

9. Hot Peppers: Eating hot peppers can speed up your metabolism and
cool your cravings, researchers at Laval University in Canada found.

Here's why: capsaicin (a chemical found in jalapeño and cayenne peppers) temporarily stimulates your body to release more stress hormones, which speeds up your metabolism

10. Water: A recent study seems to indicate that drinking water actually speeds up weight loss. Researchers in Germany found that subjects of the study increased their metabolic rates (the rate at which calories are burned) by 30 percent after drinking approximately 17 ounces of water.

Water is also a natural appetite suppressant
that banishes bloat as it flushes out sodium and toxins. Drinking enough water will also help keep you from mistaking thirst for hunger. So drink up!

Whiten Your Teeth: 5 Fast, Cheap Ways!

1. Models are told to sip through a straw to protect their teeth from stain-makers like coffee, cola, tea and red wine.

2. Concentrate on foods that act like detergents and whiten teeth naturally. These are generally foods that require a lot of chewing like apples, celery and carrots. Other foods can act like a barrier on teeth by creating a film. Broccoli, lettuce and spinach are foods that prevent stains from recurring.

3. Take a couple of strawberries and mash them in a dish or bowl. Then, taking your finger, spread the pulp all over your teeth. Leave it on a minute or two and then brush it off thoroughly.

4. By now, most of us have heard of whitening strips such as Crest Whitestrips. These flexible strips that you apply directly to your teeth are similar to the peroxide gel that dentists use during their bleaching procedures. They promise to whiten teeth in two weeks and the results last up to six months.

5. Make your teeth look whiter by using a bright shade of lipstick. The color contrast will make your teeth look as if you've had whitening treatment.

3 Ways to Slow Aging

1. Get adequate sleep -- This may seem like a no-brainer, but many people suffer from different forms of insomnia. Although the average amount of time is eight hours, it's whatever you need to feel rested and only you can determine that. Avoid caffeine and alcohol to assure a good night's rest.
2. Stay hydrated -- It is not only important to stay hydrated for your skin and digestive health, but your overall engine running, as well. Remain conscious about how much you're drinking throughout the day. You'll feel better when you've imbibed enough water!

3. Take a multivitamin -- Eating a balanced diet doesn't insure you'll get the minimum dietary requirements you need for energy. To remind yourself, put your bottle of multivitamins next to your toothpaste or something else you know you'll use at least once a day!

4. Exercise -- Although many people think exercise makes you tired, it does just the opposite if done in moderation. Exercise actually increases energy by getting the heart pumping, providing oxygen to working muscles and by increasing cardio respiratory capacity.

5. Eat breakfast -- Many may think it's not that important, but those who eat breakfast sure can tell the difference on days they skip. Your body is resting all night and the only way to get it started in the morning is by feeding it. It's like trying to start a car without gas -- it won't work. Something
light and healthy is a great way to start your day.

10 Small Changes That Equal Weight Loss

1. Soda: If you usually drink regular soda, stop! Lose more than 2 pounds in a month without trying (if you drink about 10 cans per week). One 12-ounce can of soda has 150 to 170 calories and no nutrition. Have cold water or a can of diet soda if you like, but limit the diet stuff to one can per day.

2. Activity: Go for a 15-minute walk twice a day. It's not hard and it takes commitment, but in a month, there goes 1 pound!

3. Chips: Change the potato chips to pretzels. One serving of chips has 60 calories more than pretzels -- and 10 times the fat grams. Just changing this snack will help you lose half a pound this month. Better yet, switch to baby carrots to lose an entire pound.

4. Fast Food: Order a Whopper Jr. instead of the regular one and sub those fries for a side salad. The smaller sandwich is plenty for most folks and is mighty satisfying on its own. The original with cheese has 770 calories, and the Whopper Jr. only has 420. Eliminate the mayonnaise and cheese for even more calorie savings. Assuming you eat out at least twice a week, you'll shed almost a pound a month just by switching from a large size to a smaller one.

5. Television: Instead of sitting for hours in front of the television, get on your exercise bike and pedal. Each time a commercial comes on, pedal! Burn about 200 calories when do it at least five evenings per week during your favorite program.

6. Breakfast: Lower sugar and fat effortlessly by switching from your usual Raisin Bran cereal to Bran Flakes and adding your own 2-tablespoon serving of raisins. This, plus switching from 2 percent to 1 percent milk, saves enough calories to lose another half a pound!

7. Fat: Do you add butter to your bread? Do you add mayo to your tuna? Do you drink full-fat milk? Eat full-fat ice cream? Just switch products to save fat and calories. Today's low-fat butters are great; you don't need to sacrifice the taste of butter, and you can avoid trans fats too. Buy a spread labeled "no trans fats" and save about 75 calories per tablespoon. Newly formulated low-fat mayonnaise is tasty, and you'll never miss the extra calories. Low-fat ice cream is superb, too. Just switch to lighter food choices and lose close to 2 pounds per month.

8. Lifestyle: Instead of paying someone else to wash your car this week, do it yourself. Spend an hour cleaning your car each week this month, save yourself some money and lose half a pound. Cut your housecleaner to once a month and take up the slack. Get up 30 minutes earlier in the morning Monday through Friday. Vacuum on one day, clean the floors the next, dust on the third, do the bathrooms on the fourth and clean the kitchen on the fifth. Put the savings toward a new bathing suit and lose another half a pound.

9. Omit the Fat: Avoid fried chicken. Eating either broiled, baked or grilled chicken, without skin, is the better choice and nets you delicious savings equal to about 200 calories.

10. Set Aside the Sugar: Your morning coffee can undo all the good efforts of the day before! A mocha latte with syrup and whipped cream has all the hallmarks of a decadent dessert and can add 420 calories -- before you've eaten breakfast. Instead, have a cappuccino with nonfat milk and a sprinkle of cinnamon. You'll lose up to 3 pounds in a month and save a lot of money.

It's the small stuff that adds up. I guarantee you'll never miss the calories by changing what you eat. By adding some simple activities, you can keep your body slim. I'm not saying never to indulge in an occasional dessert or a high-fat meal. Just remember that it's the day-to-day good eating that keeps you where you want to be.

Diet SuperFoods

1. Blueberries:
These little gems have been neglected for many years in favor of other more "popular" fruit.

But now that we know more about antioxidants and how they reverse degenerative diseases, this flavonoid-rich food will have you aging gracefully.

2. Tomatoes:
If you don't have a major aversion to them, tomatoes are yet another superfood. Even though tomato season is short, you can get some of the same benefits from ketchup and tomato sauce.

Aside from all the vitamins, tomatoes are disease fighters.
They help fight cancer and heart ailments.

3. Salmon:
Fish of all kinds are fantastic, and you should try to get some on your plate two to four times a week. Although fish has fat, we now know that not all fats are created equal -- fish has a healthy kind of fat.

For example, salmon is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, which can protect against a multitude of diseases including heart disease.

4. Beans:
Beans, beans, they're good for your heart. The more you eat, the more you'll... LIVE! It's not just talk. Beans are good for the heart... and a bunch of other things, too.

There's evidence that they prevent cancer, level your blood sugar and give you a sense of being full, which keeps you from overeating.

5. Soy:
Soy is the total package, rich with vitamins, minerals, plant-based omega-3s and disease-fighting phytonutrients. Is tofu just not for you?

Well, there are many other ways to incorporate soy into your diet.

-- Soy milk is a great alternative to dairy.
-- Try a soy protein shake.
-- Eat soy nuts as snacks
-- Some cereals have soy-enriched ingredients.

6. Spinach:
We learned as children that this leafy green wonder gave Popeye his "mus-cools." But spinach carries much more than iron.

Just a few of the many added benefits include beta carotene, vitamins B, C and E, calcium and magnesium.

7. Tea:
It's relaxing, has no calories and comes with health benefits. Tea is an anti-allergy, anti-inflammatory superfood that has been linked to heart health, cancer and stroke prevention, and lowered blood pressure.

8. Yogurt:
This is a great snack for work. It has calcium and other nutrients. But what makes yogurt a superfood is the presence of prebiotics and probiotics -- living organisms that promote gastrointestinal health.

Oh, and yogurt tastes good, too!

9. Walnuts:
Although nuts can be high in calories, don't let that discourage you from one of the most nutritious snacks around. Walnuts are one of the few rich sources of plant-derived omega-3 fatty acids.

Besides the fiber and protein, the plant sterols contained in walnuts help with cholesterol levels.

10. Broccoli:
Mom told you to eat your broccoli. This time, her advice was right.

Several studies have linked calcium intake with weight loss. Broccoli is not only high in calcium, but it's also packed with vitamin C that helps you better absorb calcium.

Plus, this vegetable has vitamin A, folate and fiber to meet your nutrient needs. And did we mention the powerful phytochemicals that protect against disease?

11. Oranges:
They may not be very exciting or exotic, but this old standby sure lives up to its reputation as a healthy favorite.

Yet, even with its supposed popularity, Americans still are lacking in vitamin C. Because it is rapidly excreted from your body, constant replenishment is a must.

There's nothing wrong with a glass of OJ. But eating the orange is even better because its pulp has 10 times the vitamin C dosage found in the juice.

12. Turkey Breast:
Stick to the skinless breast and you have a winner of a meal. It's one of the best low-fat protein sources you can eat.

Need we say more?

13. Pumpkin:
It's not just for the holidays anymore. High in fiber and low in calories, pumpkin has some of the highest levels of carotenoids, which function as antioxidants and help beat the effects of aging.

That's not all, though. This seasonal favorite is loaded with vitamins C and E, as well as iron, potassium and other minerals.

14. Oats:
Since 1997, the FDA has allowed the labeling of oatmeal, oat bran and oat flour products as being connected to a reduced risk for coronary heart disease.

Among its other benefits is the ability to help control your blood sugar levels with fiber. Not only is the fiber in oats good for your heart, but it will keep you feeling fuller longer -- an easy way to avoid overeating!

DON'T ACT THE 7 ACTIONS BELOW AFTER YOU HAVE A MEAL

* Don't smoke- Experiment from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes (chances of cancer is higher).

* Don't eat fruits immediately - Immediately eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air. Therefore take fruit 1-2 hr after meal or 1hr before meal.

* Don't drink tea - Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the Protein content in the food we consume to be hardened thus difficult to digest.

* Don't loosen your belt - Loosening the belt after a meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted & blocked.

* Don't bathe - Bathing after meal will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

* Don't walk about - People always say that after a meal walk a hundred steps and you will live till 99. In actual fact this is not true. Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake.

* Don't sleep immediately - The food we intake will not be able to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric & infection in our intestine.

Why salad is good for you ? (extract from internet)

We all know by now that it is important to eat 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day and salad can count towards this. But have you ever wondered what is actually contained in those lettuce leaves that is so good for you?

Studies have been carried out to investigate the link between the amount of salad and raw vegetables eaten by both men and women and the nutrients present in the blood stream after this. From this is has been shown that those who eat these foods on a regular basis have a higher level of vitamin C and E, folic acid and beta carotene in their bloodstream. Before this there had been concerns about the body's ability to absorb nutrients from salad, but the levels present in those tested proved that regular salad eaters were benefiting from the nutrients and were obviously able to utilise them in the body.

Vitamin C is a useful antioxidant for humans and helps your body to perform certain function such as protection of cells and maintaining healthy cells and aiding the absorption of iron into the body. It is found in a lot of salad and vegetable items such sprouts, peppers, broccoli, kiwi fruit and oranges.

Vitamin E has a number of functions and one of these is to act as an antioxidant within the body. Vitamin E can be found in the wide range of foods and the richest source of this is in plant oils such as soya or olive oil. However, it is also very rich in nuts and seeds which are particularly good in salads!

Beta-carotene is actually changed into vitamin A when it enters the body and thus performs all the same functions such as maintaining the health of your skin, helps to protect you from infections and also assists sight in dim light. It is found mainly in yellow and green coloured vegetables and this is what gives these veg their colour! For instance spinach, peppers and mango are high in this nutrient.

5 Foods to Flatten Your Abs

1. Orange Fruits and Veggies:
According to a recent review from Copenhagen University Hospital, the best way to whittle down your waist is to replace carbohydrates from sugar and refined grains (like white bread) with carbs from fruits and vegetables. Orange-hued foods were found to be the most effective substitutes.
Since fruits and vegetables are high in fiber, they keep you feeling full longer and researchers believe the high levels of antioxidants like vitamin C and beta-carotene fend off the belly fat. Get a good dose of beta-carotene from carrots, cantaloupe, squash and peaches. You can get your vitamin C from oranges and berries, but remember that fruit juice is not a good substitute for the real thing.

2. Lean Meats:
You should be getting about 25 percent of your daily calories from protein, Ryan says, but you should make sure to choose lean sources like poultry, fish, low-fat yogurt, and fat-free milk to keep calories down. Nuts are also high in protein, but can also be high in calories, so eat them in moderation. Tracey recommends roughly a handful a day.Protein helps to keep you feeling full and boost your energy, aiding in your weight-loss efforts. According to research from Skidmore College and Copenhagen University Hospital, eating additional protein is especially helpful for those over 40 in reducing abdominal fat.

3. Nuts:
A recent survey of more than 8,000 Americans found that selenium, a cancer-fighting mineral, seemed to also lower rates of abdominal obesity, reporting that those with lower levels of selenium had larger waistlines.Several foods contain selenium, so it's hard to know if you're getting your recommended 55 mcg per day. The best sources are nuts (especially Brazil nuts), whole grains, poultry, red meat and seafood. Foods rich in vitamin E, such as nuts and seeds, will increase the effectiveness of selenium in the body.Your best bet to get enough selenium is to eat a varied, balanced diet or try a supplement containing the mineral.

4. Wine:
Could drinking possibly help you keep your middle little? Several studies suggest that light drinking, compared to teetotaling, protects against weight gain around the waistline in women. Data reviewed by the National Center for Health Statistics points to one 4-ounce glass of wine most days as the best bet.The key to boozing and losing is the "less is more" philosophy. While one glass has great health benefits, having more is just going to add inches to your waist and cause you to think you're funnier, smarter and better looking than you really are. The only 6-pack you should be having is the one under your shirt.

5. Fish:
There's a difference between good and bad fats. Eating good fats like monounsaturated and omega-3s make it easier to stay slim, according to recent research."The healthy fats, like monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, are found in fish, nuts, olive oil and avocado, while the bad fats, like saturated and trans are found in butter, shortening, pre-packaged cakes and cookies," Ryan says.A Wake Forest University study found that over a 6-year period, participants whose only source of fat was trans fats gained 30 percent more fat in their abdominal region and had early signs of diabetes. You don't have to fear fats if you know which are good and bad.Exercise and follow these simple guidelines and you'll be on your way to an abs-olutely amazing midsection!

9 easy steps to great feet

Chiropodist and foot doctor to the stars Margaret Dabbs advises on the best skincare routine for your feet

1. Use a foot-file or pumice stone on dry feet once a week. Never do this on wet or damp skin or in the shower, as your skin is likely to crack.

2. Resist the temptation to soak your feet for more than five minutes. Any longer can cause skin to weaken and split or worsen any damage you already have. Avoid water that's too hot or too cold.

3. Cut nails straight across to avoid in-grown toe-nails. If you can, have a professional pedicure once a month and simply maintain your toe-nails in-between with a glass nail file, which is kinder to nails. And, as ever, when filing your nails don't saw back and forth, move from one side to the other and repeat.

4. Your mother was right! Don't wear the same shoes everyday - they need time to dry out to prevent fungal infections.

5. Always wear flip-flops in public showers to avoid picking up verrucae and other infections.

6. Treat athlete's foot and other infections immediately. Conditions don't tend to get better by themselves and they can get worse without treatment.

7. Moisturise your feet daily, just as you would your face. And remember that, as the skin is much thicker than the rest of the body, ordinary body lotion won't work, you need a specialist foot care range.

8. A few varnish-free days a month will help your nails from drying out.

9. Always use a nail serum to hydrate your cuticles and stop nails from flaking and splitting.

Indian Gooseberry:
The use of Indian gooseberry is the foremost among the home remedies found beneficial in the prevention and treatment of premature greying of hair. This is a valuable hair tonic for enriching hair growth and hair pigmentation. The fruit, cut into pieces, should be dried, preferably in shade. These pieces should be boiled in coconut oil till the solid matter becomes like charred dust. This darkish oil is very useful against premature greying.

Amla:
The water in which dried amla pieces have been soaked overnight is also nourishing for the hair. This water should be used for the last rinse while washing the hair.

Massaging the scalp every night with a teaspoonful of amla juice, mixed with a teaspoon of almond oil and a few drops of lime juice, also proves beneficial in the prevention and treatment of premature greying of hair.

Premature Greying of Hair treatment using Amaranth:
Amaranth is another effective home remedy for hair disorders. Application of the fresh juice of the leaves of this vegetable helps the hair to retain its black colour and prevents it from premature greying. It also helps the growth of the hair and keeps it soft.

Premature Greying of Hair treatment using Curry Leaves:
Liberal intake of curry leaves is considered beneficial in preventing premature greying of hair. These leaves have the property of providing vitality and strength to hair roots. New hair roots that grow are healthier and contain a normal pigment. The leaves can be used in the form of chutney, or may be squeezed in buttermilk. When the leaves are boiled in coconut oil, the oil forms an excellent hair tonic to stimulate hair growth and bring back hair pigmentation.

Premature Greying of Hair treatment using Ribbed Gourd (Jhina in hindi):
Ribbed gourd boiled in coconut oil is also an effective remedy for premature greying of hair. Pieces of this vegetable should be dried in the shade. These dried pieces should be soaked in coconut oil and kept aside for three or four days. The oil should then be boiled till the solid is reduced to a blackened residue. This oil should be massaged into the scalp. It will help enrich the hair roots and restore pigment to the hair.

The butter made from cow's milk has the property of preventing premature greying of hair. A small roll may be taken internally and a little quantity may be massaged into the hair roots twice a week.

Premature Greying of Hair treatment using Vitamins:
The vitamins considered useful in guarding against premature greying of hair are pantothenic acid, para-aminobenzoic acid (paba), inositol. The minimum daily requirement of these vitamins appears to be 10 mg of pantothenic acid, 100 mg of para-aminobenzoic acid, and 2 gm of inositol. To obtain satisfactory results, all three of these vitamins belonging to the B group should be supplied at one time, preferably in a form which supplies all the B vitamins, such as yeast and liver. The three anti-greying-hair vitamins can also be produced in the intestinal tract by bacteria. Thus, taking a sufficient quantity of yoghurt daily and a tablespoonful of yeast before each meal is an excellent remedy for the prevention and treatment of premature greying of hair. If one wishes to take tablets of calcium pantothenate and para-aminobenzoic acid (paba), they should be taken in addition to the yeast and yoghurt, and not as a substitute for them.
